DAY 01

Arrival in Havana

DAY 02

Havana

  • Breakfast.
  • Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes Tour and walking tour of the Capitolio, Paseo del Prado, Bacardi Building, and the Malecón.
  • Afternoon tour to the Habana Vieja, UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • You will visit: Plaza de Armas & Plaza de la Catedral with Orestes del Castillo. Also visit Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, Catedral de La Habana.


DAY 03

Havana / Santa Clara

  • Breakfast.
  • Morning tour at Casa de José Gómez Mena (intact private collection of European 18th – 19th c. art).
  • Visit to the Patronato Synagogue (Vedado). Lunch at local restaurant in the seaside village of Cojímar, the inspiration for Old Man and the Sea.
  • Tour at Cojímar Village to meet the locals and have a guided tour of Hemingway’s country estate, Finca Vigía.

DAY 04

Santa Clara / Camagüey

  • Breakfast.
  • Tour Our Lady of the Candelaria Cathedral, or Catedral de Senora de la Candelaria.
  • Visit La Iglesia de la Soledad; a beautiful, historic, and centrally located church in Camagüey.
  • Visit Charity Square, where the first Mass of Beatification of Brother Jose Ollalo Valdez took place on November 29, 2008.


DAY 05

Camagüey / Holguin

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit the San Isidro Cathedral, which currently displays a copy of the Madonna of Caridad.
  • The Cathedral faces the statue of General Julio Grave de Peralta. Visit the Bay of Nipe where the statue of Our Lady of Charity was miraculously discovered around 1600.
  • Our Lady of Charity is also known as Our Lade of Cobre, who is the patroness of Cuba.

DAY 06

Holguin / Santiago

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit the Cathedral “Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion” and the Ecclesiastical Museum where images and valuables of the Virgin of Charity reside.
  • Walking City Tour featuring the Parque Cespedes, Calley Heredia, Museo Bacardi, and Casa Diego Velazquez,
    which is the oldest private home in Cuba.
  • Visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Castillo del Morro.


DAY 07

Santiago / Bayamo

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit the birthplace of Charles M. de Céspedes, a patriot who is considered the Father of Cuban Homeland.
  • De Céspedes, a sugar planter, freed his slaves to fi ght with him for a free Cuba. On December 27, 1868, he issued a decree condemning slavery, but accepting it in practice, and declaring to free any slaves whose masters present them for military service.

DAY 08

Santiago / Del Cobre

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit the old town of Real de Minas de Santiago del Prado, known today as El Cobre. The town of El Cobre was founded in 1550 as a Spanish copper mine, worked by slaves and Indians.
  • Tour the National Shrine, which preserves the image of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre.


DAY 09

Santiago / Baracoa

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit the parish where the National Monument, the Cross of Parra, rests. The cross was brought to land by Christopher Columbus in 1492.
  • Walking Tour of Baracoa.

DAY 10

Holguin

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Depart to Holguin International Airport.
